"Its on again at Mazenod College the second annual Charity Match between Mazenod and  Wheelers Hill Cricket Club on Sunday January 27 at 2pm at Mazenod College.  After last years result the club is keen to reverse the result and bring home the Bendigo Bank Shield.  More importantly is the day itself.

"The two clubs will be raising funds and awareness for the Hope Helps charity.  A new charity recently set up to raise funds for those suffering from Cancer.  Below is a summary set up by the founder of the Charity Melanie Jeffree

"Two years ago my husband was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma and to this day he is still fighting hard to rid himself of this terrible disease. With his positive thinking and amazing spirit as my inspiration I decided to do all I can do to help the fight against cancer and have established my own fund raising group called “Hope Helps”.

"All funds raised from the Australia Day Mazenod College v Wheelers Hill Cricket Club Match will be donated to On Trac @ Peter Mac. Which is a state wide, multidisciplinary clinical and research team of healthcare professionals working towards improving the survival rates, quality of treatment and care for over 400 Adolescents and Young Adults aged between 15 and 25. OnTrac@PeterMac is now an internationally recognized leader in identifying and addressing the medical, psychological and social issues impacting on young people living with this disease.

"The goal at Hope Helps is to give these hard working cancer prevention groups better opportunities to make a difference in the lives of so many people. The money raised will be used to continue research into finding a cure for cancer and helping make a difference in the comfort of patients under going treatment for their Cancer. For more information on Hope Helps please see www.hopehelps.org.au.

"The club (MOCCC) has already received contributions from Bendigo Bank and Sportsforce and looking for others to join with us and help raise funds.  If you, or your company are able to donate anything to the event, be it funds, raffle prizes, donations then please contact Mick Le Grand (0434 420 688).  This has become an important date on both clubs calendars and a great way of giving something back beyond the cricket field.  More details to follow."
